TAURANGA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above was held in the County Council Chambers, on Friday morning at 11.30 o'clock. Present : —Dr Brown (Chairman), Messrs Commons, McKenzie, Griffiths and Badger. It was resolved that meetings be held on the first Friday in the month, at 3 p.m., in the County Council Chambers. The following resolution was then moved by Mr Badger :— ' That whereas the householders returned this Committee upon the following platform, viz:— (a) One central school in Western's paddock ; (b) Removal of all buildings now erected thereon; (c) Retain Harington Street property as a residence for the Head -teacher, and, whereas the poll for the Central Site was carried by such a sweeping majority, your, Committee respectfully request the Board of Education to give effect to the wishes of the householders, at the earliest possible date.' Seconded by Mr Griffiths aud carried. Proposed by Mr McKenzie, that the contractors for cleaning the schools be asked to continue their duties at the same remuneration until the removal of the ; school. Seconded by Mr Commons and carried. This concluded the business.
