Australian politics.
Sydney, April 29.- Reid, on being interviewed in Sydney said in his opinion, Deakin did not follow a constitutional course iv advising Lord Northcote to summon Watson. If such advice had been given to a man of larcr er Colonial experience, he would have brought out the unsoundness of the course suggested. In a non-com-mittal reference to a possible coalition, he said the present situation was an aggravation of all the trouble Australia was exposed to at the present time. It seemed to him incumbent upon those members intending to sit in Opposition to see whether it was possible to meet the present extraordinary crisis by joint action. The Melbourne Age is making unmerciful attacks upon Reid evidently with a view to keeping Deakin and him apart. There are rumours of a possible coalition of the Deakin aud Watson parties. Sydney, May 1. — Prp r i me Minister Watson is at present in Sydney. He has told an interviewer that he does not see any prospect, at the present time, of the Labour Party entering into a coalition. The work immediately before the Ministry will preclude it, he says, from seeking assistance from other parties.
