THE DINNER
At 6.30 p.m. the combined teams with line unpires, etc., sat down to a capital dinner at Mr G. Wriglay's Commercial Hotel, where the large dining room had been prettjly decorated and the tables elegantly laid out with silver, glass, flowers, fruits, etc., for their reception and the whole brilliantly lit up by the powerful gas lights presented a most attractive spectacle. The menu contained a great variety of both solid and light refreshments, done to a turn under the able supervision of Mrs Eyre and^ Miss Hill there being a choice of no less than twenty dishes, to all of which ample justice seemed to be done. The waiting staff was under the personal supervision of Mrs Wrigley and gave the greatest attention to the wants of the guests. Host Wrigley is to be congratulated on the success which attended the function as each and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and the visitors especially were fain to admit that though Waihi beat Tauranga at the football match, it would be a hard job to beat the dinner that followed it.
