TRINITY CHURCH CONCERT.
A successful concert took place last evening in the Theatre Royal in aid of the funds of Trinity Church, Tauranga. The Rev. C Jordan presided and introduced the jpreformers, s me of whom were debutanep.
! The Qrst item was a pianoforte duet, very well rendered by the Misses Darley. Next came a song by Mrs Southey, *l love him faithfully.' The third item whh M>-8 HeniHns' beautiful hymn, 'Ta© Better Land' sung by Miss Smith so sweetly that it was encored, and * Far, far awuy, I wait for thee was giren. Next cau»e our old friend Mr W. Parker, who sang, 'Let meiike a soKJior fal), ' in his talented manner, and wa* likewise encored and sang 'Coming through thw rye 1 much to th« satisfaction of the audience. The Tb« Masters Collett foUowed i with a pianoforte du«t , with voeul accompaniment * Bvmk of day ' which formed a very creditable pprf«rmanc9. Mrs LaR ehe gave ' Thinking of thpp, ' and was very well received. Miss Neigh-
hour's soug « Whisper and I shall hear,' andin response to an encore, rendered ' Hark 'tis the voice of an Angel.' Mr Southey then recited, in character * First class ; ruination ' which was encored and ' Churning round and round ' was given. Mr Heecott sang ( Queen of my heart * and was well received.
During the interval the Vicar intimated that the fete and sports had been deferred till the Queen's Birthday, and hoped, that as that d*y was a holiday, they would came off successfully. On resuming, Misses Vorcoe and Simpson performed a piano forte duet, which was highly appreciated. # Miss Smith sang * Queen of Angels, pray for the toilers of the deep ' and as an encore, ' Island of Dreams,' both of which showed talented execution. Mrs La Roche rendered very pleasingly the song, ' Good night.' Mrs Oollett received much applause for her singing of the ballad 'Oh ! they tell me, i another dear,' md was followed by Mr Parker with * I live for thee, only for thee.' Mrs Southy next gave with much expression IMy heart forgets to sigh.' This was followed by Mr Hescott's delightful song 'Three Sailor Boys.' Miss Neighbour sang very nicely ( My heart will break.' As a finale calculated to send the numerous audience home in good humour Mr Southey appeared in hunting costume and recited two racing anecdotes, (an encore being called for) Ist. 'He don't know a horse from a crow ' in which the exploits of ' Pardon, the son of Reprieve' were detailed, and 2nd, ( Win if I hold up my hand, or, a mosquito spoiled our game.' This enjoyable meeting broke up to the loyal strains of * God save the Queen * for which Mrs Oollett played the accompaniment.
