AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.
Tempted no doubt by the prospect of a large number of visitors ' in Auckland for the holiday season and also by the fact that it is very many years since an institution of the kind has been held inthe city, a number of influential citizens are organising an Exhibition which will be opened on Boxing Day and continued during the holidays. The Drill Hall, the most commodious place of amusement intowo, has been secured and will be added to by several j annexes. A large area of ground will also be enclosed for heavy exhibits, open air entertainments and a promenade for visitors. The main hall, annexes and promenade will accommodate no less than 4,000 persons. The successful exhibitors are to be awarded gold and silver medals and certificates. A number of leading firms have already applied for spaces some of whom have signified their intention of showing their wares in course of manufacture, — a feature which will doubtless prove especially interesting. ' The decorations are to be executed on a very extensive scale and an exxtez-tetxuxaGii-t cozxtzxu-fctee lx_& l>eexi appointed to engage the best available instrumental, vocal and specialty artists in Australasia. Valuable trophies willbe awarded to the winners of numerous competitions, particulars of which will be duly advertised. It is to be hoped that the promoters will meet with the success that so great an undertaking merits, especially as the Exhibition will do much to enlighten the community as to the very rapid strides our industries have taken. Mr Charles Grey, who is a member of the Auckland City Council, is the Secretary, and will be pleased to receive applications from intending exhibitors.
