A Peculiar Case.
A singular case ie tbat of Mary Higgins, which is for tbe moment the one topic of conversation in
Galveston. About a year ago she killed, in a fit ot anger, the little * son of a neighbour. She was arrested, tried on a cbarge of murder, found guilty and hauged. This took place in May. After tbe execution her body was delivered to her. family, who, witb tbe assistance of a physician, succeeded in bring ng her back to life. She was a married woman, and was informed by a clergyman that her marriage was annulled by her legal death, and that the mar- ' riage ceremony must be performed over again. This was done. ~ The couple 'went to another part of the State io live, but the truth
leaked out, and a warrant was prepared for her arrest, the officials arguing tbat the sentence of death imposed had not been carried out. Tbe woman's lawyer claims that it was, and that she was only restored to life.
