POWEBTO COMB EL WITHDBAWAL WANTED. A question of the power of a chairman cropped up at the Taranaki County Council meeting on Monday. When the report of the foreman of the Moa Riding was read Mr Adlain stated that the roads in that ridingwere a disgrace and TenVcted on the foxrefcac. Mr Be wley called on Mr Adhm to withdraw that statement as Ihe foreman had been engaged in redairirg bridges, and could not therefore devote his whole time to the roads. Mr Adlam at first objected to '■withdraw, the "remark, bat finally toned it down by stating the state oi tbe roads reflected on the Council. The chairman paid he would like something specified in the by-laws giving him power to act in case where he asked members to withdraw statements. .
