PERFECTION OF RAILWAY TRAVELLING.
Which is the safest pkco in which you can possibly be ? A well known bunting man flt the ape of seventy or thereahouts liked to iind himself on the back of bis favourite old hunter, alleging that it was the Bnfe.»t place he knew except his bed. But it would seem that an express tiain on nn English railway is even water. At any rate, the railway returns just ipsurd for the rreeent year show a marvellous record. Not a single passenger of all the four hundred millions conveyed during the firßt six months of this year was killed while travelling in a train. Considering that the English lines are more crowded than any others in the worldaud that the t ains run at a higher speed, this result is one mi which rails way directors and traffic managers have every reason to congratulate themselves.
