COOLGARDIE FEVER COOLING DOWN.
A. Danedm resident, who has returned from a visit to the Western Australian gold fields, says:— -"Wher. I left Coolgardie, 'swampers,* as the returning diggers are called, were coming down the road at the rate of seventy-five a day, but there was still a steady stream of new arrivals making their way to the fields. They were not in any way hopeful, but expressed themselves to the effect tbat as they were so far they would give it a trial. It is estimated that there are come 15, C3O men on the fields, whose support will necessiate a large output of gold if the country is to maintain such a population. Regardiny speculation, it is quite impossible to buy in<o any "find" at a reasonable figure, as a reef showing good specimens at the outcrop is immediately appraised at a value of tens of thousands or reserved by the British public." &
