Destitute aliens. . London, September 7.— The Trades Union Congress carriecl a resolution by a majority of 70 calling on Government to prohibit the landing of destitute aliens in the United Kingdom. Canadian-Australian lineLondon, September 9.— ln a letter to the Times Lord Brassey urges the Government to grant a subsidy to the Canadian -Australian line of steamers, and states it would not do to refuse the request of the late Conference in Ottawa. Obituary. London, September 9.-— The Comte de Paris died yesterday. Comte de Paris will "be buried at Weybridge on Wednesday. Messages of condolence have been received by the family from all the Royal Families of Europe. A claimant for the French throne. Madrid, September 9. — Prince Francois, of the House of Bourbon, and cousin of Don Carlos, has issued a manifesto claiming the French throne. The claim is not seriously received, and the Spanish Government, fearing the manifesto may irritate the French Government, has deprived the Prince Francois of the rank of General. 2,000 deaths daily. St Petersburg, September 9. — Two thousand deaths from cholera are reported daily in Poland. Bomb explosion. Rome, September 9. — A cafe in Turirn has been wrecked by the explosion of a bomb. The Corean war. , Shanghai, September 7.— Japan has occupied an Island of great straegitic value close to Port Arthur. * Reports from Yokohama state that the Japanese are making preparations for an attack on Pekin. , \i London, September 9,-^lt 'is reported that China is purchasing a portion of the Chilian navy. Many British Chinese Customs j Officers are joining the Chinese navy. Reports, whioh require confirmation, are received that China and Japan are in negotiation for an armistice. More forest fires. Ottawa, September 7.— Forest fires ' devastated the Rainy river district in Canada, near Minnosa ; a thousand people are rendered homeless and many killed. ,
