MISSION HALL FOR TE PUKE.
A meeting of Te Puke settlers was; held in Mr Oilman's hall on Saturday evening last to consider the necessity of building a hall for public wbrship in the township; the Rev. Goodyear was unanimously voted to ? the chair. After a great deal of discussion as to ways and means the following resolutions were put and carried, namely: — "That this meeting thinks it desirable to build a Mission Hall in the township for the equal use of the adherents of the Church of England, Methodist and Presbyterian church.es" 2. "That a committee, equally representative of the three churches, be appointed to ascertain what building sites were available and to secure donations for purchase of the same and erection of the lbuflding." The following gentlemen were tjien appointed, a committee namely! (Mr Crawford, MrHarray, Mr J^ Williams, Mr W. Bird, Mr Matyon and Mr Spooner. After a vote of thanks to the chair the meeting closed. The committee then met and appointed Mr Spooner as their : chairman. I A subscription list has already been opened and money to the amount of £30 promised and the carting of the timber free. Donations will be thankfully received by any of the committee. * ..-.
