Aucklaud; Tuesday.— -It ig suggested that the skeleton found at Henderson may be that of Ratter, a German settler at Mt. Boskill, irho disappeared about five years ago, and who was subject to despondency. Heresy hunt. Auckland, Wednesday.— A special session of the Auckland Presbytery was held yesterday evening to further consider certain charges preferred against the Bev. Neill, of the Thames, of having improperly removed four members of his management committee in December last. One side of the case was heard last week, but Neill did not then appear. He, however, was present last evening. After considerable discussion Mr Macky moved that while the 'Presbytery sympathised with the appellants it could not see its way, in the face of the distinct rules of the church to grant their request. Sommerville then moved ' That the appeal be sus> tained.' This was seconded by Munro, who suggested that an erpression of opinion be added that Mr Neill had acted illegally in removing the names of four from the committee. Somerville replied that it was inferred. His motion was then agreed to. A pro re nata meeting of the Presbytery was held yesterday evening, prior to the adjournment, at which the Bev. Neill explained to the Presbytery that his absence from the previous meeting had not been out of any disrespect to the Court. He had misunderstood the position and apologised for his absence. Neill also stated that while he thought in the interests of the congregation the ordination of Elders should be carried out, still he woidd obey injunctions of the Presbytery. Inquest. Auckland, Wednesday. — At the inquest on the body found inthe scrub nearHenderson the iuryreturnedaververdict totheeffect thatdeoeased, name unknown, met hid death from a bullet wound in the head, apparently fired from arevolver lying at his side, and there is no evidence to show whether the wound was inflicted accidentally or otherwise* A document waa found on the body in the form of a deposit receipt or statement of account between a company in Sydney and Neil Jenson* some of the writing being illegible* There is little doubt that deceased is the Neil Jensen referred to in the document. The police have kept portion of the clothing for identification. Wreckage. . Waiwera, Tuesday.— -Mr Grut, of Orewa, reports that he haa picked up on the Orewa Beach what appears to be portions of cabin fittings, some cedar shelves, a hat, a pig, a small box with Noumea printed on it, and written in biue pencil, M» C. Com* mander Scorff. A butcher's basket evidently recently used was also found at Waiwera. An empty box, which had contained Swiss milk, a piece or two of rough scantling and some sma 11 . pieces of boards came ashore this morning. The box has Noumea printed on it. The French warship Scroff left for Dunedin on Friday last, but there has been no news of bad weather on the coast since, and the stuff washed ashore may have been thrown overboard. Anniversary. Wellington, J|onday.«-?The anni* versary of Wellington province was celebrated to-day in magnifioent weather. The principal attractions were the first day's racing, of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer meeting and the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's annual regatta. The first-class yacht race was won by Maritana, the Bona being second and Isca third. The Auckland yacht Gloriana won the race for the second* class with plenty to spare, the Mahina being second and Pet third. The third-class yacht race was won by the Greyhound, and the Handicap race by Girola. The Wellington Cup resulted: Vogengang, 1 ; Clanranala, 2 ; Bosefeldt, 3. New Zealand and butter* Wellington, Tuesday.— Mr Valentine, the new Government dairy expert^ has returned irom a flying visit to the butter 'factories in the Manawatu-Taranaki district. He went as far as Stratford and was much impressed with the magnificent dairy oountry he passed through. After having visited the chief dairy countries of the world Valentine is of opinion that the country he has already passed through in New Zealand excels anything of the kind he bas yet seen. Cable broken. Wellington, Monday.-*.The threesore Cook Strait cable has broken lear the splice, about 20 miles from Lyell Bay. The cable steamer Ferranora is to be commissioned imnediately with the view to effecting ;he necessary repairs. This leaves mly one line across the Strait to Blenheim. An extra staff is to be »ent to* Wanganui in the morning to issist in Working the cable from SVanganui to Wakapuaka. Hallway Commissioners. Wellington, Wednesday.—Maxveil has sent in his claim for compenation under the Civil Service act, so ie evidently accepts the situation. Hannay will probably be offered a K>st in the Department by the new Commissioners. New school burnt down. Nelson, Monday.— The new Government central school, just approaching ompletion, was burned down at three'dock this morning. It is supposed Qcendiarism is the cause.
