TRAINING NOTES.
* [By Early Bird.] Yesterday morning being fine quite a large gathering assembled to see our local horses do their gallop. TK| first to be stripped was Taihoa. Thefe has been a wonderful improvement in this mare since last season, whioh does her trainer credit. She bowled along for the first mile in great Btyle, but seemed to fall away towards the last portion of the second, which ga^l me the idea that she will not stay the distance. Woollem! Bangatira and' Satellite Were next to gallop. The two first mentioned went away together for a mile, but the old horse, who is looking very well now, outstayed them at the finish of a mile and a half. The full sister to Catch'em was sent a mile with another horse, but she simply lost him in a mile go. She has tlie same action as her game little brother, and should turn out well with age. The best go of the morning was that between Laddie, Musket, Rifleman and Try Luck, over a mile and a half. They went away from the jump and ran neck and neck for the greater part of the journey, when Musket dropped back and the other three finished together. . The above are all engaged in the Hack Hurdles, which promises to be one of the best races or the day. The course is in a very heavy state* The dub has made a lot of improvements at the course, there being a training track and course proper, also a fence around the booth, which latter will be a great convenience to the public.
