Stohxy, Januaiy 11.— A confidential employee of thirty years .standing in the well known shipping firm of Lorimer and Borne has committed a series of embewdetnentu 'extending over twenty-seven years, amounting to £13,000. The loss falls entirely on the Sydney house which is almost crippled by it ; the firm are not taking any- ; steps at present to prosecute. The condemned woman. Mklbou*kb, January 10. — Mrs Knorr is now greatly distressed as the day of execution draws near and efforts - to obtain a commutation of her sentence appear fruitless. '♦' ; : . Terrific floods. ; Pjibth, Thursday.— All the country in the vicinity of Upper Forteacue in the north west division of this colony is under water. A wall of water rose 30 feet in half an hour. Poisoned by wnlslcey. Sydhey, January 10.— A verdict of wilful murder was returned in the poisoning case. The victim was a man named Unwin, who found a bottle of whiskey in his buggy and drank some, giving a portion of tke contents to another * man ; both men became ill and Unwin died. Analysis showed that the whiskey contained arsenic in large quantities. The police allege that they have a clue to the perpetrator of the murder of Unwin.
