A short time ago, Mr Gee of Paparata, had a narrow escape of losing a fine young horse, it hiving been strung up in the bush with supple-jacks. One of its hindlegs was almost cut through above the hock. Several of his neighbours advised him to shoot him, as he could not possibly get well. However, he did not like that course and called in the services of Mr Patterson, the Veterinary from Pukekohe, and under his skilful treatment the horse has completely recovered. Extract from * Lyttelton Times, 1 April 19, 1887. Mr W. fl. Patterson, whose Horse Relief is well-known in the North Island, is now in Christchurch, and gaye a trial at Mr \V\ Howe's Corn store, in Tuam Strest, on Thursday evening, before a few people interested in horses. The horse operated upon was suffering from an enlargement of the pastern, which camplaint he had suffered from for two or threo years. Most satisfactory results were obtained within fifteen minutes after the relief had been applied. From Pukekohe Correspondent ' New Zealand Herald.' It is my duty to mention that at our last Pukekohe rae j meeting a bay mire (Welcome Jane), belonging to a young man called Adams, in contesting one of the races, met with a serious injury, and on examination by Mr Patterson, who happened to be present, he pronounced it to be a broken pastern joint. Several people gathered around the mare, and gave their opinion that she would never again bo good for anything, and the best plan was to shoot her but Mr Patterson said no, he thou&rht he could savo tho mare so that she would be | good enough for breeding purposes. He made arrangements with Adams to attend on the mare, and the result, after some time, is that the mare is now well and able to knock about splendidly. Mr Patterson cu-ed a somewhat simi'Ur case in tho Bombay distriot a short tune since. Too much praise cannot be given to Mr Patterson and his notod Horse Relief, and no doubt a person of Mr Patterson's varied axperieace as a vet. is a great acquisition to any country district.
