Fire on board snip. Sydney, June B.— The fire on board the Wovertree has been extinguished, the cargo is valued at £58,000 but the amount of damage has not been ascertained. Tlie Oriental Bank in Australia. Sydney, June 9.— The local branch of the New Oriental Bank suspended payment this afternoon. Last returns show that Sydney deposits amount to £219,000, "Total Habilites being £247,000 while the assets amount to £418,100. Returns from the Victorian branch show the deposits at £57,000,- total ! liabilities £61,000, assets £477,000. ; Kanaka labour. Brisbane, Jane 9.'— Government has intimated to Mr Playford that they would not object to take part iii a purely consultative conference to discuss the introduction of Coolies, provided no resolutions were formally submitted.
