DON'T LOSE HEART.
When times are hard and the income small, And no longer the feast is spread, And round about you the shadows fall, That mark how the day has sped ; When out of your grasp slips many a joy. And sweetest of dreams dapart, And you lose your hold of treasures untold, Oh, don't lose heart. Though troubles come like a dotnon crew, Your little craft to o'er whelm, Though worn and spent with the daily strife, Let faith stand firm at the helm ; And though dark the sky and cold the breeze, Still bravely perform your part, For you'll stem the tide and in safety ride, If you don't lose heart. The loss of fortune and loss of friends, 'Tis every one's lot to bear, And loss of health may its burden add To th« weight of sorrow and care ; But though ypu fall from your height and lose Your place in the busy mart, There's a chance for you to strike out anew If you don't lose heart. The adverse winds and the troubled waves Our courage and strength wi*l $esfc, And out of the bitter herbs of gri^f Are the healing juices pressed ; And joy will coma to our hearth, and bid All sorrowful guests depart, As sare us the light succeeds the liigjit-^ Then why lose heart ? *
