CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinnay monthly meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 11. a.m. on Tuesday the Ist. Present, — Bey. C. Jordan, (Chairman) Messrs Macmillan, Brown, Home, Galbraith, Bodell, and Maxwell. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, Mr Home lodging an objection as far as they related to Mrs Maddens affairs. Outward correspondence was read and approved. The inward correspondence and a good deal of other matter were con- ' sidered much of it not being of any general public interest. The principal business was as follows, — It was decided that on receipt of money collected by the Benevolent Society the Clerk apply to the Government for the 24s in the pound subsidy and on receipt thereof, hand it and the original sum collected back to the Benevolent Society for distribution, if requested. Resolved that the sum of £150 be placed to separate acoount in the Bank to be called a Hospital and Refuge building account.* Resolved that the allocation to the various contributory Local authorities in the Bay of Plenty district be the same as for the yea,? ending March 21st 1887. Resolved that the contributions of tbe Local authorities be payable in three instalments, viz on the Ist day of April, August, and December, respectively. Several applications were received and dealt with and sundry accounts passed for payment Mr Home drew attention to the fact that the Committee appointed to enquire into Mrs Maddens complaint had not brought forward any report on the matter.
