ANNUAL LICENSING MEETING.

Tiie above meeting was held afc the R.M. Court ou "Wednesday last. Present — Messrs Clarebrough (Chairman), Aaher, Maxwell, and F. "Wrigley. After transacting ordinary routine business, the following applications were heard (Mr Bromficld appearing for the applicants) : — STAn nOTEL. This was an application for a publican's license to be granted to Mrs D. C. O'Meagher. In this case the Inspector reported that he had communicated with the Inspector in Dunedin, who gave the applicant a first-class character. Application granted. YOBKSIIIHB GREY. Mr W. Menzies applied for a renewal of his license. As he was only the holder of a temporary transfer, the license reverted back to the original holder, Mr J. D. Falkner, to whom a license was accordingly granted. The Inspector road a sub-report, bearing upon the drainage of the Tauranga and Masonic Hotels. TAURANGA HOTEL. J. Menuies applied for a renewal of his license. The Chairman remarked that the applicant (J. Menzies), having disobeyed the order of the Licensing Commissioners in neglecting to carry out their instructions given at last December Licensing meeting, has laid himself open to have his license cancelled. The Committee retired to consider their action in this case, and after due deliberation stated that tho decision of the Committee re the application of Jno. Mensdes for renewal of his license is as follows : — " That no certificate be granted until the order of the Committee respecting drainage at last meeting has been obeyed to the satisfaction of the Chairman and Inspector. MASONIC HOTEL. In this instance, although the applicant has complied with the order of the Commissioners in respect of drainage, he did not do so within the specified time, and in future a similar neglect may affect the granting of a license, as it is a matter which very seriously concerns the occupants of tho houses in tho town. COMMERCIAL HOTEL. This application was granted without comment. WIIOI/ESAXE LICENSES. Wholesale licenses were granted to Thos. Wrigley, E. Gr. Noras, and Mann and Co. This concluded the business.
