There is great speculation here about what route will t>e recommended for the North Island Trunk Railway. ■-., News was received last night to the effect that the American Legislature is considering a bill for granting the San Francisco service a subsidy of £18,00.0. A number of cigar makers have arrived by the Waihora from Sydney. A leap year reunion took place in Choral Hall last night, the proceeds of which to aid St. Thomas' Episcopalian Church. Charles Anderson, mate of cutter Four Sisters, was lost overboard yesterday between Tiritiri and Mahurangi.
