Wednesday. Spohr's- " Last Judgment" was performed last night by the Choral Society in fine s^yle before a crowded audience. The debate between Mr Bright and Mr Brown took place last night on "Is the Christianity of the New Testament detrimental to human progress," 900 people being present. The debate is continued to-night. A seaman on board the steamer Manapouri fell down the hatchway today, and was killed. The action of the Licensing Committee for City North on Monday was fairly liberal. That of the City South yesterday is strongly condemned as tending to tyranny, and also that of City East. Several members nf the Assembly left yesterday by the Hinomoa. The remainder go to-morrow per s.s. Waihora. •
