Chad Wick .moved ic That the application be held over, and that the engineer be . requested to inspect tho road mentioned and report on the same at the next meeting, informing them the amount necessary to place it in thorough repair." The resolution wia seconded by Cr. Wrigley and carried. . APPLICATION FOH SLAUGHTER IIOUSB. An application was read, from Messrs Shepherd and Wylie, of Katikati, for a license to erect a slaughter house. This was held- over until the 11th of February, in

order that tho necessary advertisements might appear in the local journal. TUT, TJS PUJfA BOARD. ,; An application was read from tho To Puna Board, requesting the Council to take o.ver the unfinished portions of Mr Martin's contract on the Katikati Road— viz., from thq Waipapa to tho Wamui RiYcr. '< After some discussion, it waa resolved,, on the' motion of Cr. Wrigleyy seconded by Cr. Chadwiok, that the- Engineer be\ instructed to .inspect that portion- of tho Katifcati Road', and, after inspecting the specifications, &0,, report at next meeting' 1 the' probable' cost of completing the work, THE MAKETU ROAD. The Engineer's report on the Maketu and Ohinemutu Road having boon read, considerable discussion ensued as to votimg a sum of -money for repairing it,' Eventually tho matter was held over till next meeting. i .. MANGARFAVA. FOREST ROAD. In reply to" Cr. Chadwick, Tho Chairman stated that whilst in Tauranga, Mr Blackett, C.E., had informed him that the sum of £1,500 had been placed on the estimates for the Mangarewa Forest Road. Mr Blackett also expressed surprise' that no application should have been made for this, sum. It was mainly owing to the efforts of Captain Moms, M.H.R., that it' had been voted, and he (the chairman) thought they were much indebted to that gentleman. Four tenders for the work of slabbing the road and felling timber on both sides to the extent of one chain were opened, but held over. 4 '' ■ ' ' " ■'' ; 'SLAUGirTER-HOUSE INSPECTION. ! it was resolved that Sergt.
