The revision of the borough Valuation has been completed and, despite Bome rather wild exaggeration anent fresblm poiuons, we find the aim of the Valuer has not been to impose extreme values but to remove existing anomalies and assess properties throughout the borough on a uniform basis wilbin reasonable distance of their true values. Certainly, in several cases, it was formed that some J properties were valued at an absurdly tow figure. These have been raised and, in fact, a slight increaae has been impos-' ed upon 90 per cent, cf the property within the borough which raises the Valuation from £10,632, to £12380, a differ- ; erenco of £1,748, and gives an increased revenue of £175. I
The Government Wheat Controller, Mr W. G. McDonald, reports that for the period ended January 23 the threshing returns account for 6,234,172 bushels. There were contracts to purchase 0,141,099 'bushels' pf good milling wheat and 686,-710 'bushels of fowl wheat. The amount paid to larmiers through Government 'brokers is £1,779,500, representing 5,179,273 bushels,
