Milton Borough Council.

A special meeting of Milton Borough Councillors was held last night for the purpose of considering certain matters requi .ing immediate attention. Amongst these was the receipt of an interim report by the Auditor engaged by the Council to prepare over duo balance-sheet?. It is gratifying to record that ininformed the report submitted to the Council indicates that the state of the Cancilß finances is satisfactory, A request from Mr R. M. Brookes that, owing to the unsatisfactory state of ho bere« leived of his duties was also considered and tho following motion was carried. •' Tho Council regrets that you have found it necessary to ask to bo releivcd of your duties but accedes to your requost and in recognition of your long term of service votes you three months salary form Sept. 10th, in lieu.of notice."
