. The freehold farming property of 100 acres offered at auction on behalf of Mr A. Wisely, North Branch, by the National Mortgage Agency Co. on Tues« day wag passed in at £35 per acre, but was sold privately to Mr A. Melville, Lovells Flat, at, we understand, an advance on that price. About 1300 sheep were yarded by the National Mortgage Agency 00. at their stock sale on Tuesday; of which, about half that number was sold. Fat wethers realising up to £2 Is.

Waitahuna Btook sale takeß place next Tuesday. In addition to a good entry of stock, the old-established Bridge Hotel is to bo offered at auction in lota to suit/ purchasers.

The Bruce iCounty Council givea no« tice of its intention to amend its heavy traflic by-laws by adding motor lorries to those vehicles which are subject to a license fee. It is also proposed to pro* vide for the payment of yearly license fees ranging from JG2 to £10.,'

During the restricted train service Mr Blakeley, dentist, will visit Milton on Tuesday, as usual, but his hours are curtailed from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

The Milton Borough Council's month* ly meeting last night was extremely lengthy, and long before its termination (at 10, 45) the councillors showed evidences of weariness of mind, and a tendency towards looking a<i their watches aod glancing longingly towards the door. It is gratifying to record that thus eßrly in the history of the Milton Borough saleyards they have already proved inadequate to the demands made upon x them. At Tuesday's sale the record entry of between four and five thousand sheep, arising from the annually recurring shortage of feed between turnips and grass about this time of year, proved too great for the capacity of the yards, and a number of entries had to be accommodated in cattle pens and on the street, and in one case a firm lost its commission through a line being squeezed into tho opposition yards. Contrary to expectations the larger proportion cf tho sheep were sold to local buyera, and the present satisfactory pikes maintained. The prices were: Fat and forward wethers. 40a 3d, 38} 2d ard 378; light do., 23a 91; ewes in lamb, 353,651 id, and 26a 7d; old ewes, tfbmi 17s; hoggets, 29a to 14i Si for small. Cattle, fat cows to £l2 ; stores, £7 17s 6d, young cattlb to £l ss.
