— ; —■*.— - Noteß by "Wanderer.") The contest last Saturday between Cresent and Toko for the Premie ship was well worth the journey to witnoss, and considering the wet state of the ball, both teaniß played a fine attractive game, and 'the loose forward rushes were a treat to witness and aroused keen interest a* inong&t the spectators. I must congratulate the Toko, team on the fine exhibition they gave, both in defence and attacking, and the forwards all played well, and got down to their work in good style, there was only one fault' that I noticed particularly, and that was in their collaring, they were too much inclined to go high for their man, go for your man low, it is much safer Whilst not wishing to mention any for ward in particular, I feel I must say tha. Gostello played a sterling game, in fact he was the best forward on the field on the day's play. The Toko, backs with one exception played a good game, and hauded the greasy ball splendidly. Heads stood out prominently and their play was of the highest order, in fact their fieilding and line kicking saved Toko, repeatedly, and, it was a treat to'wafcoh them all day Sheppard also played well, his defence showed much improvement, Hassett on the other wing was weak both in defence and attack. . Bollison and Fahey as five-eights show ed good defence, and in attacking made use of every opening. J. Fahey behind the scrum was a bit Blow, in getting the ball nway; he was not eo brilliant as in previous matohes, but his defence was •good. Oresent and Toko, meet again on Saturday at Balclutha to contest the flag, and there wilf no doubt be another large gathering of spectators. I must congratulate the Kugby Union on their decision to defray the travelling expenses of both teams on this ocoasion.

Keen interest is being taken in Saturday's replay to decide the Banner match, all the available local motor cars being booked by enthusiasts. Toko team will bo: Cuff, Sheppard, Heads, M'Leod, Bawlinson, 8. Fahey, J, Fahey, Wilson, Moffat, Groves, Bryant, Currow, Hewitt, Hitchon, Costollo.
