Rifle Shooting.
J About 86 competitors (Territorials and Senior Cadets) from all parts of the widely -scattered Group XVI area took part in the rifle meeting, fired on Milton range last Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather on the opening day was delightful, but Wednesday's pleasure was completely marred by the heavy rain showers and bitterly cold windr. A notioeabie feature was the scarcity of Milton and district competitors. Five shutter targets were used, and scoring in the variou3 matches showed belter shoot-' ing by the Cadets than the Territorials, Major J. H. Ohisholm, group com* mander, was in charge, with Captain 801 l and Lieut. Hamilton as range officers. These officials wore assisted by Warrant Officers Colbert, Connolly, and Pollard, Sergeants-major Sargeantj Carver, Btorey, aud Btechman. The visiting competitors were billeted at St. John's Hall, and partook of their breakfast and tea at the local boardinghouses ; lunch was provided at the range by the Defence Department, which de* frayed the whole coat of the billeting arrangements. Miss J. M'Leod had a refreshment booth on the range. The conditions of the matshes were alike for Territorials and Cadets, and the target scoring 4, 3, 2, 1. The prize winners were ;
