Social at Clarksville.
A very enjoyable evening was spent at Mrs B. Peattie's farm). Clarksville, on Friday last to say au revoir to Mr and Mrs John Murray and family, who have sold their farm and are going to Milton to reside. The programme included pianoforte solos by Mies H, Adam, Mesdames M'Elrea, and Murray; violin selectiin, Master Harvey Michelle; songs were contributed by Mesdames J. A. Scott, M'Elrea, Murray, Adams, Messrs R. 11. Michelle, R. Bruce, Masters M. and R. M'Elrea, and the Misses Murray; and Mr R. Bruce gave a very enjoyable recitation. Supper was then handed round by the ladies, After supper, Mr J. A. Scott presented Mr Murray with a handsome barometer, Mrs Murray with a nice quilt, and the ittle girls with small mementos. Mesßrß Michelle and R. Bruce endorsed what the previous had said as regarded Mr Murray's willing assistance to settlers in the district, and Mr Murray feelingly replied, acknowledging the kindly references and gifts, The company than sang " They are jolly good fellows." • Mr Michelle proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Peattie for the kind welcome to the neighbors'/and a verse rf the National Anthem brought a pleasant evening to a close.
