LONDON'S PRIDE.
Who would have dreamt that Londoners could become so jealous of their potatoes that they would even stay away from their beloved theatres r They are so proud of their allotments, says a manager, so absorbed in the competition in food producing, that in consequence not one London theatre is "playing to capacity." The potato is tho dramatist's most powerful enemy. Otiior causes of the fall in business are. in their order of importance: (a) Scarcity of taxicabs; (b) aid raid risks; (c) the hot weather.
