Fifth annual meeting of shareholders in the Milton Co'operative Dairy Factory Co. will be held to-morrow evening. Routine detail business was transacted at a committee meeting of the Bruce Horticultural Society last night. The fixing of date of the spring show was held in abeyance in the meantime. Thirty->three cases of Xmas gift pars eels were despatched from Milton during last month, through the Overseas Club, for local soldiers at the Front. The cases were gratuitously packed by Mr J. R. Wilson. The Tokoiti | Patriotic Committee has initiated a canvas of residents of that district to raise funds to provide Xmaa parcels for Tokoiti soldiers on aotive service. /in connection with the work that the Ladies Branch of the Overseas Club ia doing in regards Xmas Comforts for the Boys in the trenches, they have decided to send away at once, cakes, plum puddings and chocolate?, for distribution amongst New Zealand soldiers. We are pleased to learn that Mr J. B. Wilson has not loßb sight of the opportunity of having the Tokomairiro District represented in that distribution and an appeal is made to the residents for gifts of cakes, plum puddings, and chocolate, etc, to be sent in at once. A letter will be en» closed in the case or cases to the officer in charge with the request that the con-* tents be di&tributed amongst all soldiers from the Tokomairiro district, as Xmas gifts from this district. The parcels are riot to be addressed to individual soldiers on this occasion, but left for distributicn amongst our Boys, Mr Wilson feels sure that he will have the support of the ladies in this effort to give cheer to the Boys at Christmas time. . At Dunedin Police Court oa Monday John Blee(who was arrested by Constable Fox) pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to provide his wife and six children with adequato maintenance.—ln reply to Mr Hanlon he said that he did not hnva any work in the city so he went to Milton end got a job. He had given her 133 since the first of August.—The Magistrate made an order against him for £1 10s a week for his wife and ohiN dren, together with solicitors fee (£1 Is).
