Social at Moneymore.

The residents of Moneymore and Lavellß Flat districts combined last Friday evening in honoring one of their number, Private William Hassett, who was down on final leave from the training CBtnp. The Moneymore Social Hall was well filled with friends and well-wishers of the departing soldier, and Mr T. Scott presided. An enjoyable evening was spent In tongs and recitations, the following contributing to the programme : Mr 8i Hawes (overture), Mesdames R. G. Loekhari, Bowie, J, Clark, Misses Saville and Heads, Messrs A» M'Donald, C. Clark, A. Robinson, C. Hood, R, Allison, J. Littlejohn, and W. B. MacWilliam. In presenting Private Hassett with a gold albert and case of razors, Mr Jasper Clark referred to the recipient's popularity and estimable qualities, and ex* pressed the sincere wishes of (all friends lor his safe return, Similar sentiments were also voiced by Messrs Jas. Icckhart, A. Macdonald and the Chair* man, after which the recipient responded in fitting terms. Refreshments, 'generously provided by the ladies, were partaken of, and the floor cleared for dancing, which waß indulged In for a few hours, to musio supplied by Messrs T>. Hassett, C. Robinson, W, Lllburne (violin), Misses Prin« gle, Herbert and Mr D, Hassett, junr. (piano). Private Hassett was also the recipientof several gifts from his personal friends.
