HEIRESS' LOVER.

An attempt to abduct an, heiress at Allontown, Pennsylvania, in broad daylight ended in the arrest of an overardent suitor on a charge of k'dnap-' ping.

Mr Samuel Sinclair, a member of a family of wealthy Quakers, appeared with a friend in a taxi cab outside the home of Miss Anna Steckel's father just as Miss Steckel was returning; from a snooping tour. The men seized her, pinioned her arms, and thrust Tier into the taxicab, where they smothered hor head in a rug.

The driver afterwards said h© had been engaged "for a wedding," and at first regarded tho proceedings as a joke. But the girl's half-suppressed screams alarmed him and instead of carrying out Mr Sinclair's command to "drive into the country and «bey orders," he drove with all speed to the police station. There Mr Sinclair and his friend were arrested and Miss Stockel sent.home in a state of collapse. Mr Sinclair told the police that Miss Steckel had consented to be kidnapped so as to deceive her father, wh» objected to her engagement.
