MILTON v. LAWRENCE.

Tho match botwoon Milton and Lawroiice, played on tho Lawrence football ground on Saturday, attracted a vory hirge crowd of Bpootators. Lawrence wore tho first to show up in tho game, but solid back work soon put them on the dofonsivo. Milton attempted to score, but tho ball was passed out to Miss W. Hay, the Lawrenco wing, who travelled up the sido lino at a groat rato, beating tho Milton backs. Miss Watt cleared in fino stylo, getting in some good foot work. Miss A. Moore broke away, and some splendid passing was indulged in by Misses A. Moore, M'Phersen and M'Larcn, but the Lawrenco backs wore too sound on the defonce, Miss York, by a long pass, sent the- ball out to Miss P. Crook, who dribbled from one end of the field to the other, but Miss Johnstone got in a nice centre hit and saved the situation. Lawrence cons tinued to press and again took tho ball up the field, this timo getting into tho circle, and a good but fruitless attempt to place a goal was saved by Miss S. Chisholm as the ball was within an inch of the line. Miiton now got away and soon had the ball in the circle, when some exciting play took place, Lawrence managing to clear. Half timo was called with no score.

Milton sot off briskly in the second spell, but several attacks wero quickly stopped by the Lawrence backs. Suddenly Mias Beid passed tho ball to Miss M'Pherson, who broke away and passed to Miss A. Moore, who in turn passed across to Miss F 1 M'Lareu, who on reaching the twenty-five passed in to Miss M'Pherson, the latter player placing tho first goal (I—nil). Lawrence made a bold bid for the line, but Miss J. Moore cleared in fine style. Desperate forward work by Lawrence followed and Miss W. Hay got possession and travelled down the field, simply leaving Milton backs standing, and scorod first goal for Lawrence (1—1). After some give and take play Miss Crook broke away and registered thoir second goal (2—l). Milton wore now anxious about tho time, and with only three minutes to go they did not give up hope. Miss 1, Beid lett the half-line and placed herself with the forwards where she got the ball, and with a determined look on her face, which told that she meant business, she took the ball right up the centre of the field, and made no mistake when she got into tho circle, placing a splendid goal. Time was called shortly after with the ball in midfield. The game ended

Milton 2 Lawrence 2. Mr P. Farrell acted as referee, NOTES. Milton forwards made some splendid passing rushes, making the game exceedingly interesting. Misses A, Moore, M'Pherson, and M'Lareu were tho most conspicuous in the forward lino. At half Misses Reni and Johnstone did hard work, At back Misa J. Moore was always there when required. Miss Watt, in goal, was alwaya safe, putting in some good foot word when hard pressed. i<or Lawrence Misses Hay, Crook, and York wore the pick, but they all played well together. It was always a bad look out for Milton when Miss Hay got going with the ball.

Tho game was so interesting that tho spectators cheered so much, making it impossible to hear tho whistle. I doubt if tho mill whistle could have been heard sometimes with the row. When tho Luwronce girls were near scoring, tho small boys behind tho posts would sot up a cry "Look at tho airship," with the intention of getting the Milton backs to look up, and 1 think they were half inclined to do so at times.

The Lawrenoo girls treated the Milton girls in tip'-top style, and had the Milton team had more timo they would have been treated to a drive out to liluo Spur aa well as a ride in the train on iho Lawrenceaßoxburgh railway. I hoar that these teams intend meeting again this year, so all interested in tho gaiuo will nave a chanco of seeing a good game, for tho Lawrence girls can play hockey.
