ALEXANDER KINLOCH, M TAT 75 Although not one of the pioneers of Tokomairiro, the late Alexander Kinloch, whose decease we noted in our last issue as taking place at his residence, Fairfax, Milton, on Monday morning, June 29th, was a Bettler in Toko for many years. He was a native of Bathgate, near Edinburgh, and came to New Zealand in the Alpine, which arrived at Dunedin from Glasgow on September 12, 1859. In setting out to seek his fortune in New Zealand he left his young wife but as Boon as he had made a hom t for her Mrs Kinloch followed. following whatever occupation that turne„ to his hand he settled down to farmin at Berwick, and was there some ten years, and it was there that his wife died. He afterwards re-married and came to the Toko district, where he successively held land at Akatore, Sunwick and Canada Reef, retiring some years ago _to Fairfax, A family of five sons and five daughters with the widow are left to mourn their loss. Mr Kinloch was not lately ot *a very robust constitution, and for many years has been;-; practically an invalid. He took no part in active publio lite, but was a man held in high esteem by bis friends and neighbours. The funeral took place on Wednesday, and the Rev. Mr Miller officiating at the grave side made feeling reference to the quiet virtues of the deceased.
