Waihola Notes.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

On account of the very wintry weather which prevailed on the evening set apart tor llev. J. W. Griffon's lecture, " Bound the world in one hundred minutes," the lecture was postponed for a few days, when a'goodly number oame to hear and benefit by the entertainment, and I am sure everyone present enjoyed the evening, despite the fact that it was bitterly cold. . On the occasion of the school concert held last week, the oommittee profited by the experience, and supplied the hall with a very large numbor of oil heaters, which were lit early in the evening, and so marie the place comfortable. At the Sacrament of the Lord's supper, which was commemorated in the Presbyterian church last Sunday, the special collection, which was taken up in aid of the Orphanage, amounted to £3 7s, which is extremely gratifying, especially when we consider tnat the weatner was not at all favorable to a full congregation. In connection with the recent gift auction, in aid of the same ohuroh, the managers have presented Mr Lane, who kindly gave his services on the occasion, with a very nice writing desk. There was an exohange of pulpits here yesterday, Mr Spence going to Milburn and Mr Howes taking his old pulpit here, when he gave a very interesting and instructive address.
