SMALL CREDIT BALANCE FOR SHOW.
A meeting of the Committee of the Bruce Poultry Club was held on Saturday night, when there were present, Messrs J. A. Duthie (Presided) C. F, Grant, Jas. Christie, T. R. Coutts, Carr, Allison, Bremner, Maxwell, P©trie and Gordon.
It was decided to refund the entrance money of a fancier, who had sent in his entries but omitted to sign his name. As the secretary did not know where to send the pen numbers, the birds did not come to the show. Mr H. G. Berryman wrote thanking the club for the care taken of his birds, which were fit to exhibit on their return to Ashburton. Mr James Curie wrote, asking for a refund of 7s 3d, extra expense incurred through some of his birds being sent to the wrong place. It was decided upon consideration of the circumstances to make the refund. Accounts were passed for payment as follows, Bruce Herald, ID. Gordon, £1 gs Bd, Mirror £3 12S, Jos. Bremner, 8s 2d, H. Bastings, 17s 6d, Labor 8s 6d. It was resolved to write to the head of the State Poultry Dept., thanking him for allowing the services of Mr Burke to give exhibitions of plucking, trussing and cramming birds. The value of the exhibition was fully realised by the societyIt was also agreed to write to the judge Mr Sinclair, thanking him for his services, and asking him to send in his account for expenses. It was estimated that when all accounts were paid, there would be a small credit balance. If the show night had been fine, this balance would have been considerably augmented.
