A. London cable states that a gale created great havoc, and caused several fatalities both on land and sea. The Thames was flooded, and boats were used in the lower streets of the south end to convey people from their houses.

Shrubb, the running champion has sailed in the Ortona. He competes in the Australian and New Zealand championship meetings.

Congressmen. Herman and Senator J. H. Mitchell are. indicated ia connection with land frauds in Oregon. It is alleged the Government was defrauded to the extent of three millions sterling. Other senators and high officials are supposedto be implicated. >;
