'■'he ordinary monthly meeting ol the above was held on Wednesday evening ; present — His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Moore), Crs Robertson, Grey, Hastings, M'Keehnie, Lockhart, Taylot, King, and Murphy. An apology w.is received for the absence oi Cr Scanlan. The Agricultural Department wrote declaring broom, giant burdock, dock, gorse, wild turnip, ragwort or ragweed to be noxious weeds within the borough, and notifying that the local inspector under the Noxious Weeds Act had been instructed in the matter. — Received. A return was received showing amount contributed by the various local bodies to the Chaiitable Aid Hoard. — After, several councillors had remarked that the Dunedin returns, which they principaliy wanted, were not mentioned in the statement, the matter was allowed to drop. Accounts amounting to .£69 were passed for payment. Two tenders were received for supplying 500 yds metal — Mr D. Allison at 6s 5 d per yard, and Mr Athy at 5s iod per yard. — On the motion ofCr King, seconded by Cr Taylor, Mr Athy's tender was accepted. Messrs Finlay M'Kay (Balclutha) and James Palmer (Logan's Point) wrote offering to deliver • metal on trucks at Railway Station at 5s 8d and 4s od per yard respectively. — Received. On the motion of Cr Lockhart, seconded by Cr Grey, it was decided that the dog tax be fixed at ss, and that the town clerk be authorised to secure the necessary collars. Cr King, on behalf of the Milton Fire Brigade, presented to the Council a framed photo of the members of the Brigade. It was decided to send a letter ol thanks to the Fire Brigade for their , kindness.
