A social evening was held in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Wednesday evening by the members of the Young Men's Bible and Ambulance Classes in connection with the Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church. The social was arranged as a wind-up to the classes for the present session. There was a fairly large attendance, over which Mr D. t rawford presided, and a pleasant evening was spent in music, song, etc. After supper had been disposed of, Mr Crawford, on behalf of the members of the Ambulance Class, presented Messrs T. E. Reynolds and G. Simpson with a musical alarm clock each, in recognition of their services as tutors during the past session. Correspondence from exLieut. Fogg thanking the Brigade for the enlarged photo presented to him on his leaving the district and retiring from the Brigade. The letter was received with applause. It was resolved lo procure two fifty feet lengths of delivery hose with necessary unions, the Borough Council to be notified to that ctt-ect. The matter of getting a tirebell was brought up, as this is a great necessity to the Brigade. Suggestions were made that it be procured by raising the money by public subscription to defray the cost of same. One member stated that he was piomised several subscriptions if the money so given was devoted entirely ior the fire bell purpose. After a slight discussion it was resolved to let the matter drop. The question of procuring uniform trouseis lor the men was also left over. The meeting then terminated.
