♦ OVK O\V..V COKRESPONDKNT. ) After a long spell of dry weather, rain started to fall last Wednesday, and continued till Thursday evening ; while heavy rain fell again from Friday midday, till Saturday morning, which caused the creeks to overflow their banks. About midday on Saturday the water could be seen coming down Mr Hagen's paddock in a body about 2ft deep. Though the flood has gone down, I have not yet been able to ascertain the amount of damage done. bachelors' social. The bachelors of Lovells Flat held their annual social in Mr Jasper Clark's barn on the oth inst., the weather being perfect for the occasion. There was a large attendance from Hillend, Stirling, Southbridge, Milton, and surrounding districts. The barn was very prettily decorated with evergreens, kindly snpplied by Mr Clark. About 65 couples ■were present, "and dancing room was at a premium during the first part of the evening. Capital music was supplied by Messrs E. and J. Powley (Milton), I while Messrs W. Hewitson and JK, Clark made efficient M.C's. The duties of secretary were carried out by Mr W.
