Mania of the Fifth Dnke of Portland tor Collecting Odd Pieces \— of Headgrear. Continuing- the list of curious paral-° lels which" the new claimant to the dukedom of Portland alleges to have existed 1- .tween the fifth culce of Portland and I r. Druce, the London Express gives f^me facts about the mania for wigs ■vhich is said to have been common to Loth men. A representative has had f 1 interview with the perruquier, whp, for about 12 years, was in constant attendance on the fifth duke. "The first time I saw the duke," ■(His man stated, "was about the year 3 350. I was sent around to Cavendish Inuse by Mr. Truefitt to supply the duke •with a new wig. These he was perpetually ordering. There was a small wicket window on each side of the front door. ""/Hen I rang the bell I noticed that an rid butler was peering at me through the glass. "At last, after a tremendous lot of unbolting, the door was opened, and I was admitted to the house and cqnducted upstairs to a room about 20 feet square. The walls were honey-combed with pigeonholes, and each one of these contained a wig. There must have been at least 600 of them."
