ENGLISH LETTER.

Millinery of the Moment. Of course it is as yet too soon to predict with any degree of certainty the styles of millinery whioh will become popular for cold weather. Of those at present in favour, it is easier to Bay what ehould be avoided than chosen. The Spanish hat, turned boldly up in front, is a style suited only to the few, giving to the majority of its wearers an air of theatrical assurance which is anything but becoming. The downtamed brim of that other favourite, the ' Trelawny,' is apt to make the face look thin, and the flatly-placed feathers on either side have a decidedly ageing effect. Perhaps the toque of draped velvet, silk, lace or embroidered material is at present the prettiest headgear in vogue. A model bonnet shown to me is of round, toque-like shape, trimmed rather high ,in front, and having narrow strings of velvet ribbon. Table Decobations. A unique ornament for the table may be made by three-parts filling a china or earthenware bowl with sand. Pour somo water over the sand. On top of this fix pretty closely pine cones — the ordinary little cones known to be picked up in woods. Between each scale of the cone sprinkle as muoh mould as the crevice will take. Scatter grass seed ever these and arrange the cones in the sand in the bowl, finally sprinkling over with water. Stand the bowl in a warm plaoe, watering once a day. The seeds will soon send forth their tiny spears of the very greenest grass in .every direction, the efleot , beiog as gcaqefai as it ia «uus«al«
