SHORT SLEEPERS.
rroiessor Max muuer nas recoraeo. a conversation he had with Alexander Von Humboldt on the subject of eleep. 'Ac I get old,' said Humboldt, ' I want more Bleepfour honrs at leas*. When I was young two hours were quite esoughfor me.' Humboldt lived to be eighty-nine, and said it was quite a mistake that we need Be ren or eight hours of eleep. Professor Legge, the Chinese scholar at Oxford, rose habitually at 3 am. and allowed himself only five hours' sleep. He died at the age of eighty-two. Brunei, the engineer, used to work habitually twenty hours a day, and after a few hours' eleep in an armchair was always bright and fresh. These examples indioate nothing except that certain constitutions cau content themselves with very little sleep, thriving well mentally and physically. Short sleep does not suit all people.
