Taieri Beach
« (From Our Own Correspondent). The Christian Endeavor Society gave a very enjoyable social on Friday evening. The Rev. Mr Somerville presided. Addresses delivered by Mr Sewart, missionary from Brighton, and Mr Scott, a divinity student from Dunedin, were highly appreciatedThe choir, under the able management of Mr Milne, rendered som? very nice selections. Mr Burnard gave a recitation entitled, " Brother Ire and the fashionable choir." The Misses Burnard accompanied by Mr Milne and Mr Fairbairn, sang with great taste " Hear the Angels coming."' Mrs Coutt's renderins of " When the Roll is called in Heaven I'll be there," and a Scotch selection by Mr Milne, were well received. At this stage our worthy chairman intimated that there would be an interval for refreshments, and those iD attendance lost no time ia distributing tea and cakes, &c, which hid been kindly supplied by the ladies of the distric* for the occvsion. After justice had been done to this part of the programme, a few more selections by the choir and the usual vote of thanks brought a very pleasant evening to a close. The proceeds of the eventtDg which were devoted to the society's funds amounted to £5 7s 9d.
