In connection with the theft of £900 from the National Bank at Newton, Auckland, last year, the police have traced possession of a number of the notes to a man who was in Auckland at the time, and afterwards left for San Francisco. The man was ar- [ rested, but neither he nor the notes could be identified, and consequently tha pro- J ceedings ended there.
