GLENORE.
A conoert was held last week at Glenore in aid of the school picnic funds. The entertainment was given by a local Christy Minstrel Band composed of the young men working on the dredges, 'lhere was a large attendance, in fact, more tha:;i the school could hold, In the first portion of the programme the minstrels, who were togged out in true Christy style, kept their audience in roars of laughter from start to finish with their songs and amusing topical jokes. At the interval liberal supplies of eatables and ' refreshments provided by the ladies of the district were handed round. In the second part of the entertainment aonga were given by Mrs Gray, duet by Misses Thomas and Wain ; quartette by Misses Lane and Surpless, and Messrs llobertson and Bones (with his face washed) ; while Mr John Parlane gave two amusing recitations, The rest of the evening was spent by the young people. in tapping the light fantastic toe, We understand the funds will obtain about £% from the entertainment. .
