THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR.
An unsuccessful attempt waß made by a party of Americana to oat the cable in Gnantanamo Bay, the south-eastern extremity of Cuba. Senor Capote, vice-president of the Cuban Repablio, declares that he will not tolerate interference with or control on the part o America in internal affairs in Caba. It is reported in Washington that Senor Castillo, the Spanish Minister at Paris, ia arranging with the French Government for the cession to that Power of the Philippines* in order to prevent the groop falling into the hands of America. Admiral Sohley's eqaadron has arrived a* Santiago de Ouba, where Admiral Sampson's Key West eqaadron will join him.
