Swallowing Pine. — Should anyone unfortunately swallow pins, the following ia a good remedy : — Drink four grainß of tartar «metic in a little warm water, and immediately afterwards take the whitea of six eggs. These two ingredeinta will coagulate upon tb.B stomach, envelope the pins, and bring &hem np. .To Recover Scorched Linen.— Peel four onions and extract the juice from them. Mix it with one ounce of soap, four ounoea <of faller'a earth, and a pint of vinegar. Boil well together. When nearly cold, put it on the scorched linen ; allow it to dry in the air. Afterwards wash it with clean ■water. Should one application be insufficient, repeat the process. Baauty by Pinching. — The following is a good and harmless reoipe for beautifying the complexion of the face. When retiring for the night pinch your face with thumb and finger till it ia tender. Then sponge with water as hot as the face will allow, and gently rub with a soft towel till quite dry. Then rub a little cold cream in briskly. Do this every night for a few week?, and it will not only beautify the complexion but give a sweet expression to the face. To Clean Brass Work. —^ake one ounce ©f oxalic ccid, three-quarters of a pint of Uew England ram, and three quarters of a pint of oil. Put the mixture iuto a bottle, cork it clus9, and let it stand two or three days before usiug it. It Bhould be shaken occasionally. Rub the brass with a clean woollen cloth, dipped into a small quantity of this liquid, then rub it with dry rottenstone with another cloth. The bottle should &c labelled as poison.
