(See Stud Book.) Rose, the dam of Young Extinguisher, was bred by tbe late John Lindsay, and ia by Yonng Prince of Wales (importd from Sootland). Rose's dam was the well-kuown mare Blossom (imported from Tasmania), aome of whose stook has never been beaten. Extinguisher as a two-year-old was first in hie class and champion at Dunedin and Inveroargill shows, and Rose has been also a successful prizetaker, having taken first and second honors since she was a year old np to last year. Young Extinguisher was plaoed seoond at Riverton and Invercargill shows two years in succession. He also took the First Prize as a three-year-old at Inveroargill in 1887, took seoond prize at the Mataura P. j and A. Society's show in 1888, was second at Gore in 18S9, and the same year took first prize for his olass at Wyndham. He was first at Tokomairiro against all corners Uot year and also champion, Hence it is clear he is descended from tbe best strains of Clydesdale blood ever imported to the colonies. Syntax by Pinole Patohen (imported), by Liberty Patchen— Mary Blanc, Long John —Morgan mare. Dam, Topsy, by Quicksand (imported). Pinole Patchen's Amerioan mile record was 2min 22sec. Syntax (full brother to Julian) is a very handsome, upstanding, dark-brown horse, stands over 16 bands high, and is a real type of the Amerioan trotting horse. When just a colt unbroken he was purchased for £120, and when only two months broken in Syntax trotted a mile in 2min 46sec, thereby proving himself to have a great turn of speed. Julian (his full brother) when only four years old won a two-mile trot at the Forbury, doing the distance in smin 383 ec, winning easily— thereby proving himself to be the fastest four-year-old in the colony. Susan (halfsister to Syntax) Is the winner of several very fast trots, and holds for New Zealand the mile and a-half record, in saddle— time 4min.
