The Victorian Premier, replying to to a deputation of unemployed, said that while he would do all in his power to start a public subscription, the Government would not be influenced by any demonstrations. It was strange that they only awoko to activity when the new Government took office. Several memberß of the deputation abused the Premier before leaving. — Mr M'Gowan, of the New Zealand Land and Income Tax Department, has had several interviews with the Premier of New South Wales on the Bubject of a land and income tax — By the death of Mr John Dunn, pioneer of the flour milling industry in South Australia, religious and charitable organisations benefit to the amount of £14,500. — Another very rich gold discovery ia reported from Coolgardie. Specimens show fully one third gold of a flaky character. — Australian Sugar Companies have reduced the price of sugar £l per ton. — The Taxation Bill has passed the South Australian Assembly. — At Broken Hill twenty four men charged with being concerned in a riot at Moamba station were acquitted. — The Tasmanian revenue is falling and further retrenchment seems to be unavoidable.
